Boy can they fly ! Originally, the team flew four aircraft in the signature “Diamond” formation and expanded to six aircraft to showcase both the diamond and solos high performance capability as well as the precision formation flying taught to all Naval Aviators. Today, the squadron flies the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet and the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules.

Koninklijke Luchtmacht Nederland - F-16 Solo Display Team - Netherland

Every year again I do enjoy these guys performance and not only for the fine paintings... Although it looks spectacular, the F-16 demo team's show contains maneuvers that occur during normal operational missions. What makes the show special is that all of these maneuvers are smoothly choreographed together and are performed at very low altitude. Although Captain Schutte's body is put under these enormous G-force stressors, it is his goal to give an accurate illustration of the F-16's outstanding maneuverability and skill set that every Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 fighter pilot must master.

Portugese Air Force - Asas de Portugal - 4 * Alpha Jet - Portugal

Asas de Portugal (stands for "Wings of Portugal") is the official aerobatic display team of the Portuguese Air Force. The team consists of four specially colored Alpha Jets in white, red and green colors, where only two of them performed at airshows. In some fly-pasts the team flies with four-ship formation, but this is not official practice for now. The team is a part of 103 Squadron, at B.A. 11 airbase in Beja.

 U.S.Air Force - Thunderbirds - 6 * F-16 Fighting Falcon - USA

Professionalism & a big sense for detail on top of that. That's how you should remember them once you have seen them performing. I will surely remember Thunderbird 5 and 6 doing that amazing “Mirror Flight”. More than 20 years went by since I saw them again in Koksijde, Belgium. Anyway, it was worth waiting that long…

First performance ever in Europe on July 6th & 7th 2011 in Belgium. Being a “younger” team as they were formed in 1998, you’ll have to admid they perform well! One thing's for sure by the way: these guys were trained by the Reds !
